Passion…

I procrastinate but that’s okay because I’m ten times less likely to become a serial killer. ;)

I have been studying on and off for my upcoming GRE. My free time is spent mostly at home playing Halo. I swear, a part of me decided to give in to easy addictions as time passes. Some things I’m addicted to: Pepsi, Halo, seared salmon, Catwalk Root Boost and brown contact lenses.

I haven’t been going out as much as I used to. I guess when you really take a step back and evaluate the time and investment you make in certain friends, you start to realize that some people are just not worth your time. I don’t mean that they have rotten personalities or their presence is the devil, but there are just some of those fair-weathered friends that deep down, you know that they will not be anything more than that.

It’s somewhat of a blunt thing to say. I love my childhood friends, friends from high school and even some friends I made during my early college career. It’s just that I’m obsessed with giving my time, love and attention to a handful of people who I know will give me the same treatment. This is not to say I’m closing off myself to potentially fabulous friends in the future, but I would like to see more passion in my friendships. Passion that radiates when you’re constantly building up your friend when he or she is in their “deepy deep” phase, passion that pierces through the “I’m fine”, when you know damn well they are NOT fine, passion that shows up at your door with chicken soup when you’re sick (you can expect the same from me haha), passion that entails a warm blend of support when you need it most.

I’m actually not sure what made me think of this post. Maybe it’s the fact that I have taken notice of some connections that are rather stale, stale to the point where I have attempted numerous times to rekindle but alas, failing due to a one-sided effort. Friendships are very important to me, and I think to successfully be with someone in an intimate relationship calls for being a authentic companion as well.
